We run a small organic eco-farm in a heavily forested and unspoilt area in Lubuskie, in the far west of Poland. One of our seasonal sidelines are wild forest mushrooms. We organise guided mushroom picking trips into the forest and also pick and supply wild mushrooms in their dried form for export to kitchens and restaurants all over the world. 

The forests around us are full of literally dozens of different types of mushrooms. And if you join us on one of our guided mushroom tours you will find and be able to pick many of these; and also observe first hand many of the wonders of the Polish countryside. We pick and dry wild mushrooms, native to this part of Central Europe, and can supply them as dried mushrooms to locations anywhere in the world. Two of the mushrooms best suited to drying and in our view the best of all wild mushrooms found in Poland are:

Pocini (Boletus Edulis, Pinophilus, Reticulatus, Cep) Photographs

Mushroom hunters regard this mushroom as a great prize; and chefs around the world rate this mushroom among the very best. The Pucini or Polish Borowiki mushroom has a wonderful nutty flavour and is extremely versatile. It can also grow very big and weigh as much as 2 lb 2oz. The growing season is Spring to Autumn. The Boletus mushroom is one of the most versatile mushrooms and it can be used in many cooked dishes.

Chanterelle is for many the highlight of the mushroom season: not only does it look beautiful, it tastes wonderful. The season is late spring to late summer in Poland. The chanterelle has a good shelflife: specimen can be kept fresh for some time either in a refrigerator or in a cool, airy place. They taste exquisite and are extremely versatile, whether on their own, in mixed mushroom dishes or with meat or fish dishes. They also give an elegant colour to sauces and the overall appearance of a dish.
